Aflame and Unafraid : A tribute to Amanda Gorman
Through this handmade fountain pen, we pay tribute to Amanda Gorman’s performance of her poem “The Hill We Climb” at the US presidential inauguration.
Her words are as relevant to South Africa, to the world, as to the US:
“…our people diverse and beautiful will emerge battered and beautiful, when the day comes we step out of the shade aflame and unafraid, the new dawn blooms as we free it, for there is always light if only we’re brave enough to see it, if only we’re brave enough to be it.”
Wow, every time I hear it, this resets my heartbeat to a joyful rhythm.
And this pen is our way of paying respect to Amanda Gorman’s inner beauty and strength … and pizzazz.
African Miyuki Magic model
This model is a beaded pen that we make in a number of different variations in terms of the areas that can be beaded: either the cap or the barrel, or both cap and barrel. It is a wide pen with sides that appear parallel, however this is a slight taper between the beaded areas and the finials. The finials are very slightly conical and the cap is a flush fit with the barrel.
