Copacabana – part of The Mob series of painted fountain pens

Copacabana, is a pen painted by Hanna Farmer, as part of her series called, The Mob. The scenes were inspired by the movie Goodfellas, which is based on a novel Wise Guys, which was in turn based on a true story. It is a tale filled with crime, murder, paranoia and greed, with Mr Hill as the protagonist. As a young man he works his way up through the mob’s hierarchy, never stopping to consider the horror that he causes. Hanna’s pen shows scenes of people in the 1960s spending their nights at the Copacabana nightclub, playing poker, drinking at the bar, gambling … and digging graves in the dead of the night. She has created a brilliant depiction of Brooklyn Bridge and the Italian-American neighbourhoods in Brooklyn in that era.
Each of the pens in this series has an actual bullet casing embedded in the barrel finial, and a hand-made silver roll stop in the shape of a revolver. The roll stops were designed and created by jeweller Aileen Février.
The pen was made by us at Stanford Pen Studio, drawn and painted by Hanna then coated in a clear resin by ourselves and given its final shape, polished, and buffed. It has a silver cap band, section ring, and logo medallion in the cap finial.

The Jabulani model
SPECIFICATIONS
This is a gently curvaceous model, with a girth of 16 mm (0,6”), narrowing to a 10,7 mm (0,4”) grip section. The relatively large size of the model is to allow the artist sufficient space for their artwork, and the artwork is encased in a layer of clear resin to protect it from getting damaged during day-to-day use. Our logo medallion is embedded in the cap finial which is ever-so-slightly rounded, and the barrel finial is ever-so-slightly conical. The cap is a flush-fit and does not post. The Jabulani model usually comes with a hand-made, cap band and section ring in either Argentium silver or bronze, though this may differ depending on what best suits the artwork. Custom hand-crafted roll stops can be added.

We supply our pens with a Jowo #6 nib, alternatively the section can be made to fit a Bock #6 if requested.
