[Sold] Horatio the Seagull – zendoodle fountain pen

Horatio the Seagull is part of Hanna’s Life’s A Beach series. This nattily attired seagull stands on a pole, eating a fish; below him is a sandy seabed decorated with dozens of pretty shells, and behind him is a fishing boat heading towards shore. In the background are four beach houses standing on a raised pier, with a lifebuoy, three fish strung out to dry, and a ladder, hanging above the waves.

The barrel similarly has a light sandy shoreline with pale blue ocean below that and a pale blue sky above. The houses are tremendously intricate: there is a turret, a wash-line with a cloth and a sock on it, another line with fish hanging to dry (on our West Coast we call the fish bokkoms, and in our household, stinky bokkoms, for good reason), brightly painted roofs, ladders, chimneys, weathervanes … one could spend days staring at this pen and still find something new every time.

Hanna painted the background in multiple layers of watercolour, then doodled her artwork on to one of our fountain pen blanks that we specifically designed for the purpose. Once the artwork was complete we coated it in an outer layer of clear resin which allows the owner to carry and use this art on a daily basis without it getting scratched or damaged. A portable, functional, one-of-one original.

This fountain pen has a turquoise grip section, a sterling silver cap band and section ring, plus a logo in the cap finial and is supplied with an engraved stainless steel Jowo nib.
