The Leopard hand-painted fountain pen [Sold]
Marian Binder’s artwork is famous for not just capturing the beauty and exact likeness of her subjects, but its essence, its soul. This one-of-a-kind pen brings me close to tears every time I look at it, as the leopard seems to look right into my soul. I have had the great fortune of touching a wild leopard, and seeing this painting for the first time was a similarly profound experience. (The live leopard was admittedly unconscious at the time, having been drugged for research and to fit a tracking collar.) There are so few of these magnificent creatures left in the wild and this pen reminds us all of our duty to protect those that remain and to protect their habitat. Thank you Marian for having created such a work of art.
Marian, whose work can be seen on her website made.marian.co.za is a phenomenal wildlife, people, and botanical artist. Her art is world-class, as evidenced for example by her recent invitation to be one of 44 acclaimed local and international botanical artists to create the Grootbos Floregium, Africa’s first floregium of botanical art, hosted by Grootbos Private Nature Reserve. When not painting flowers, Marian paints portraits that range in subject matter from wild dogs to warthogs to humans, and in every case she captures the essence of her subjects.
We look forward to featuring more of Marian’s beautiful artwork for sale on our fountain pens.
