Petite Silk fountain pen
This Petite Silk fountain pen resembles a flurry of turquoise, cerulean blue, lavender, powder blue and purple gossamer* caught in a miniature whirlwind. Uncapping the pen reveals the section which is a rich violet , perfectly offset by the polished steel of the nib. (The grip section has not yet been threaded so it can be made to fit either a Bock or a Jowo nib.)
Each blank is individually crafted, the silk is hand-painted and with the random patterns created by the fibres, no two pens are ever identical.
We came across this pen blank (along with a few others from the same batch) that had been hiding away for more than a year. Dave has made just the one pen from this batch so far, so if you order a pen and this particular one has sold, Dave will make one specially for you.
- Nerdy factoid: So while silk is spun by silkworms, gossamer is spun by spiders and is used by baby spiders to ride air currents in search of new homes. When Dave and I used to paraglide, we would sometimes find our lines streaming with sparkly gossamer webs … giving tiny stowaways a free ride.
The Dainty Dafoe model
As the name suggests, this is a feminine, dainty pen. The nib end of the barrel curves in toward the section, which is tapered to follow the shape of the barrel. The gentle curves on both the cap and the barrel lead to a narrow waist in the middle.
