Turn! Turn! Turn! – Sing-along Songs fountain pen

ZAR9,000.00

Hanna Farmer continues her Sing-along Series with this classic, Turn! Turn! Turn!, which became a No.1 hit when it was sung by The Byrds in 1965. The lyrics were written by Pete Seeger in 1959, but most of the lines were written well before that … apart from the chorus (Turn! Turn! Turn!) and the last line, they are taken almost word for word from the Book of Ecclesiastes from the Old Testament. Hanna has interpreted this song by showing the change of seasons, of leaves falling and turning silver and with intriguing patterns in them as they float in the breeze. The full lyrics to the song are:

To everything, turn, turn, turnThere is a season, turn, turn, turnAnd a time to every purpose under heaven
A time to be born, a time to dieA time to plant, a time to reapA time to kill, a time to healA time to laugh, a time to weep
To everything, turn, turn, turnThere is a season, turn, turn, turnAnd a time to every purpose, under heaven
A time to build up, a time to break downA time to dance, a time to mournA time to cast away stonesA time to gather stones together
To everything, turn, turn, turnThere is a season, turn, turn, turnAnd a time to every purpose under heaven
A time of love, a time of hateA time of war, a time of peaceA time you may embraceA time to refrain from embracing
To everything, turn, turn, turnThere is a season, turn, turn, turnAnd a time to every purpose under heaven
A time to gain, a time to loseA time to rend, a time to sewA time for love, a time for hateA time for peace, I swear it’s not too late

(Now, if you can read that without getting an earworm*, then you are a better man than I am, Gunga Din!)

The pen was made by us at Stanford Pen Studio, painted and doodled by Hanna then coated in a clear resin by ourselves and given its final shape, polished, and buffed. It has a custom-made section in “green smoke” and an argentium silver section ring, cap band, and logo medallion in the cap finial.

Each of our hand-painted fountain pens is an original work of art. If you have seen a pen painted by Hanna that has been sold, you are more than welcome to contact us with a request for a pen on a similar theme, or to request a custom pen in a unique theme of your own.

*earworm = a catchy song that, once it has started inside your head, you can’t turn it off.

Nib:

Available in Jowo #6 in polished steel. Please select Fine, Medium or Broad at the check-out.

The Jabulani model

SPECIFICATIONS

This is a gently curvaceous model, with a girth of 16 mm (0,6”), narrowing to a 10,7 mm (0,4”) grip section. The relatively large size of the model is to allow the artist sufficient space for their artwork, and the artwork is encased in a layer of clear resin to protect it from getting damaged during day-to-day use. Our logo medallion is embedded in the cap finial which is ever-so-slightly rounded, and the barrel finial is ever-so-slightly conical. The cap is a flush-fit and does not post. The Jabulani model usually comes with a hand-made, cap band and section ring in either Argentium silver or bronze, though this may differ depending on what best suits the artwork. Custom hand-crafted roll stops can be added.
