Moraea anastasia hand-painted fountain pen

ZAR6,800.00

Botanic artist Lisa Strachan was delighted to paint this newly discovered plant species, Moraea anastasia, on to one of our fountain pens. The new species was named anastasia, which translates from Greek to resurrection, to signify that it was found in a tiny area that had recently been cleared of a pine plantation, and less than 50m from an area that was about to be built upon in a housing development. It is from the iris family, and one of 1 200 Iridaceae indigenous to Southern Africa. We think Lisa’s painting of this flower is brilliant, with its pale petals, blue base fringed in yellow and intense purple centre.

This pen is in our new Intwana model. (Intwana means “smaller one” in Xhosa, as it is smaller than our standard Jabulani model.) For the grip section Lana mixed a custom blue to match the blue in the flower. The pen features a stainless steel cap band and section ring, chromed clip and our silver logo inside a bronze ring embedded in the cap finial.

Each of our hand-painted fountain pens is an original work of art. You are more than welcome to contact us with a request for a commissioned fountain pen by Lisa in a unique theme of your own.
