[Sold] Forbidden Love hand-painted fountain pen

R7,500

Brandon (@brandlee_art on Instagram) hand-painted pens are fascinating on so many levels. Let me quote from a video Brandon made of this pen: Forbidden Love shows a girl who is happy to be in the company of a (gorgeous) dragon. The dragon has wings and is therefore not a typical Asian dragon (as they don’t have wings), and we can therefore assume is foreign. The dragon can symbolise a range of things, from partners to careers to tastes in music, and the list goes on. In this scene they are enjoying one another’s company under the night sky, which is lit with lanterns, and the dragon’s tail is curled around her at the base of the pen.

However as we go up the stairs, there is always that one person who does not approve of her choices. So here is Mr Angry, bathed in jealousy, getting ready with his dragon-slaying blade, to try to put an end to things or to try to prevent things from happening. The blood moon above symbolises the end of times. So he is going to try to put an end to things. But this is not your typical girly-girl. She does have a sword. And she knows how to fend for herself.

Brandon went on to say, We as artists know how difficult it can be. People not approving of what we are doing and trying to do their best to discourage us from having art as a career. “Creating art is not a real job.” How many times have I heard that line! So we constantly have to fend for ourselves and to protect what we believe in.

This pen was made by us at Stanford Pen Studio, illustrated by Brandon in graphite and acrylic paint then coated in a clear resin by ourselves and given its final shape, polished, and buffed. We have added a deep blue grip section, as well as a bronze section ring, bronze cap band and our logo medallion (in bronze) embedded in the cap finial.

One thing we ought to emphasise is that each of our hand-painted fountain pens is a 1/1 original work of art. No-one else will ever own an identical pen.
