[Sold] Ironbeard Viking Clan painted fountain pen

This product is currently out of stock and unavailable.

The images on this pen were inspired by the Vikings, the Scandinavian seafaring warriors who raided and colonised wide areas of Europe from the 9th to the 11th century. Their burning, pillaging and killing earned them the name vikingr, meaning pirate. Ironbeard was the name of a clan of Vikings who were known for the unyielding strength of their clan … as well as their impressive beards! As always, Hanna Farmer has done a huge amount of research into the subject so as to incorporate accurate elements from Viking history and mythology. For example, she has painted Thor’s Hammer, Mjölnir; Yggdrasil, the Norse Tree of Life; The Helm of Awe, Ægishjálmur, (the multi-pronged pattern on the cap), a symbol which they often inscribed on to their foreheads or weapons as they believed it would make them invincible; and Vegvisir, the Runic Compass. Then there are dragons, the distinctive Viking ships, runes and symbols, and Erik the Red with his magnificent beard.

This pen was made by us at Stanford Pen Studio, painted and zendoodled by Hanna then coated in a clear resin by ourselves and given its final shape, polished, and buffed. It has a bronze section ring, cap band and a logo medallion in the cap finial, and we have added a grip section in a custom-made deep blue with a pearlescent shimmer.

Each of our hand-painted fountain pens is a 1/1 original work of art, hence no-one else will ever own an identical pen.

The Jabulani model

SPECIFICATIONS

This is a gently curvaceous model, with a girth of 16 mm (0,6”), narrowing to a 10,7 mm (0,4”) grip section. The relatively large size of the model is to allow the artist sufficient space for their artwork, and the artwork is encased in a layer of clear resin to protect it from getting damaged during day-to-day use. Our logo medallion is embedded in the cap finial which is ever-so-slightly rounded, and the barrel finial is ever-so-slightly conical. The cap is a flush-fit and does not post. The Jabulani model usually comes with a hand-made, cap band and section ring in either Argentium silver or bronze, though this may differ depending on what best suits the artwork. Custom hand-crafted roll stops can be added.
