Watsonias and Bees Limited Edition fountain pen
ZAR9,000.00
We are delighted to offer this hand-painted fountain pen to you as a limited edition of 10 pens. We had such an enthusiastic response to the first Watsonias and Bees pen she painted, and the purchaser has graciously allowed us to ask Lisa Strachan to paint another nine numbered pens of a similar design. Each one will of course be unique as they will be individually painted by Lisa.
It seems I am not the only one who has been bewitched by the beauty of this painting … the soft, subtle background, the pale violet, pink, and buttercup colours of the flowers on their long stems, the long luxuriant leaves, the tiny bees on the cap with their almost transparent wings. Sigh. And the purple-to-pale-aubergine grip section adds the perfect touch.
Lisa Strachan is a highly respected botanic artist, so much so she and was one of the top artists to be commissioned to paint for the Grootbos Floriglegium, a collection of botanical illustrations of fynbos plants. One of the features that makes this magnificent botanic art gallery unique is that each illustration includes the plant’s pollinator(s). Hence Lisa has included the little bees on this pen that helps to pollinate these gorgeous watsonia flowers. She has painted the flowers against a grey background, denoting the fact that they flower particularly beautifully after fire.
This fountain pen was made by us at Stanford Pen Studio, painted by Lisa and sealed in clear resin before its final shaping, polishing and buffing to get that immaculate shine. It bears an argentium silver cap band, section ring and logo medallion embedded in the cap finial.
Each of our hand-painted fountain pens is an original work of art painted directly on to the fountain pen. No-one else will ever own an identical pen.

The Jabulani model
SPECIFICATIONS
This is a gently curvaceous model, with a girth of 16 mm (0,6”), narrowing to a 10,7 mm (0,4”) grip section. The relatively large size of the model is to allow the artist sufficient space for their artwork, and the artwork is encased in a layer of clear resin to protect it from getting damaged during day-to-day use. Our logo medallion is embedded in the cap finial which is ever-so-slightly rounded, and the barrel finial is ever-so-slightly conical. The cap is a flush-fit and does not post. The Jabulani model usually comes with a hand-made, cap band and section ring in either Argentium silver or bronze, though this may differ depending on what best suits the artwork. Custom hand-crafted roll stops can be added.
