This painting of a fishing village on one of our fountain pens would make an excellent gift for a person who loves the sea.
We live on the southern coast of Africa, where little fishing villages are still to be found. Hanna Farmer drew and painted this busy village with so much detail it could easily justify a painting the size of a mural.
On the cap she has depicted fishing boats out to sea, a lighthouse, thatch cottages, a man selling fish door-to-door, a fisherman repairing nets, a fish market, a person scaling fish (I swear I can see the individual scales!), prettily painted rowing boats. On the barrel: kites being flown on a distant hill, quaint Cape Dutch houses with their distinctive chimneys extending from the outer wall, washing blowing on the line, a bait shop, fish hanging to dry, a fisherman walking home with his catch of the day, a jetty, fishing boats bobbing on the sea, and so much more, all painted with such an excellent sense of perspective that it truly look three-dimensional.
Lana took her cue from Hanna’s teal blue sea and blue doors to mix a custom teal blue for the grip section. This fountain pen has a silver cap band, section ring and logo embedded in the cap finial.
Each of our hand-painted fountain pens is an original work of art. You are also more than welcome to contact us with a request for a commissioned fountain pen by Hanna in a unique theme of your own.
