Gardening, painted by Hanna Farmer on a fountain pen made by Stanford Pen Studio, celebrates the joys of getting out into the garden and of and watching things grow. It’s about spring, and bees drowsy on nectar and dusted with pollen, and the dream of having a potting shed, and filling every available container with flowers, and sunflowers, and a wishing well, and a hen keeping bugs at bay, and bulbs bursting with colour and nature being gloriously riotous. It evokes a deep yearning in me to get up from my computer and to get my hands deep into some rich, loamy earth.
This fountain pen was made by us at Stanford Pen Studio, then Hanna doodled and painted directly on to it. We coated her artwork in a clear resin and gave the pen its final shape, polished, and buffed it. We included a silver cap band, section ring, and bronze logo medallion in the cap finial, and we have added a sunflower-yellow grip section.
Each of our hand-painted fountain pens is an original work of art, hence no-one else will ever own an identical pen.
