Hanna Farmer’s tribute to Dickens’s A Tale of Two Cities uses the novel’s motifs of shadows, darkness, and of imprisonment to great effect. She has captured the atmosphere of the book’s setting – the French Revolution – brilliantly, with images of the Bastille, the pitiless, arrogant French aristocracy, Madame Defarge memorably knitting beside the guillotine, and Dr Manette obsessively making shoes even when he is no longer in prison. Love and self-sacrifice are also portrayed on this remarkable artwork that tells a story. Hanna has included the final memorable line of the book, spoken by Sydney Carton as he prepares himself for execution so as to save the life of Darnay, “It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done. It’s a far, far better rest that I go to than I have ever known.”
The pen was made by us at Stanford Pen Studio, painted and zendoodled by Hanna then coated in a clear resin by ourselves and given its final shape, polished, and buffed. It has a silver cap band, section ring, and silver logo medallion in the cap finial, and we have added a grey-green section.
Each of our hand-painted fountain pens is a 1/1 original work of art, hence no-one else will ever own an identical pen.

The Jabulani model
SPECIFICATIONS
This is a gently curvaceous model, with a girth of 16 mm (0,6”), narrowing to a 10,7 mm (0,4”) grip section. The relatively large size of the model is to allow the artist sufficient space for their artwork, and the artwork is encased in a layer of clear resin to protect it from getting damaged during day-to-day use. Our logo medallion is embedded in the cap finial which is ever-so-slightly rounded, and the barrel finial is ever-so-slightly conical. The cap is a flush-fit and does not post. The Jabulani model usually comes with a hand-made, cap band and section ring in either Argentium silver or bronze, though this may differ depending on what best suits the artwork. Custom hand-crafted roll stops can be added.
