[Sold] Psychedelic Shrooms – hand-painted fountain pen
This is so groovy! Artist and graphic designer Carla Nel was given a prompt to paint a pen with psychedelic colours and magic mushrooms. Now it just so happens that Carla is a mushroom fanatic and has been collecting and drawing mushrooms for many years, so these ‘shrooms are not only beautiful, they are also anatomically correct! Her colours remind me of the ’70s when tie-dye T-shirts, peace signs, unisex platform boots, mini- midi- and maxi-dresses were so cool, and seriously long sideburns were as sexy as flared bellbottoms. I (Di) can still remember all these things; Carla is much younger and would have to google them!!!
The pen was made by us at Stanford Pen Studio, drawn and painted by Carla Nel, then coated in a clear resin by ourselves and given its final shape, polished, and buffed. It has a bronze cap band and section ring, as well as a bronze logo medallion in the cap finial, and a hippie-orange grip section. And yes, there is a tiny shroom on the barrel finial.
One thing we must emphasise is that each of our hand-painted fountain pens is a 1/1 original work of art. No-one else will ever own an identical pen.

The Jabulani model
SPECIFICATIONS
This is a gently curvaceous model, with a girth of 16 mm (0,6”), narrowing to a 10,7 mm (0,4”) grip section. The relatively large size of the model is to allow the artist sufficient space for their artwork, and the artwork is encased in a layer of clear resin to protect it from getting damaged during day-to-day use. Our logo medallion is embedded in the cap finial which is ever-so-slightly rounded, and the barrel finial is ever-so-slightly conical. The cap is a flush-fit and does not post. The Jabulani model usually comes with a hand-made, cap band and section ring in either Argentium silver or bronze, though this may differ depending on what best suits the artwork. Custom hand-crafted roll stops can be added.

We supply our pens with a Jowo #6 nib, alternatively the section can be made to fit a Bock #6 if requested.
