[Sold] Cats in Windows painted fountain pen

This product is currently out of stock and unavailable.

Val Myburgh’s painting, Cats in Windows, features not only the most gorgeous cats (and a mouse), but also has the most fascinating window shapes and interesting brickwork. Each window is different and each cat clearly has a character of its own. Val is of course a cat-lover and is private butler to a dark grey fluffy named Smidget. It would have been lovely to be able to say that Smidget is a cuddly, lovable ball of affection. Unfortunately the opposite is true. She is a Hell Cat who regularly scratches Val, even though they have been together for 14 years, and to this day will not let Val’s partner Sandy touch her (the cat).

Smidget was rescued at three day’s old by an animal lover who already had way too many animals, including a miniature horse who lived indoors, so Val offered to foster the orphan and popped her in her bra for ‘kanagaroo care’ as it was clear she had very little chance of survival. Well, Smidget survived but being brought up by a human rather than a cat, never learnt any cat manners, such as that it is rude to bite the hand that feeds you. Val now realises she ought to have bitten back when Smidget was still a kitten, but just did not have the heart to do so. Hence we can take Val’s scars as proof that she is indeed a hard-core cat lover!

The fountain pen was made by us at Stanford Pen Studio, painted by Val then coated in a clear resin by ourselves and given its final shape, polished, and buffed. We have added a light blue section to match the windows and trim, as well as a silver section ring and cap band, and our silver logo medallion is embedded in the cap finial.

Each of our hand-painted fountain pens is a 1/1 original work of art. No-one else will ever own an identical pen.

Nib:

This pen can be bought with an 18kt gold #6 nib (we have only fine or medium in stock), or a steel Jowo #6 nib (in fine, medium or broad).

The Jabulani model

SPECIFICATIONS

This is a gently curvaceous model, with a girth of 16 mm (0,6”), narrowing to a 10,7 mm (0,4”) grip section. The relatively large size of the model is to allow the artist sufficient space for their artwork, and the artwork is encased in a layer of clear resin to protect it from getting damaged during day-to-day use. Our logo medallion is embedded in the cap finial which is ever-so-slightly rounded, and the barrel finial is ever-so-slightly conical. The cap is a flush-fit and does not post. The Jabulani model usually comes with a hand-made, cap band and section ring in either Argentium silver or bronze, though this may differ depending on what best suits the artwork. Custom hand-crafted roll stops can be added.
